  • Description
    This collection of the painter and graphic artist Sándor Bortnyik’s (1893-1976) documents consists of the photo copy of the 1919 Activist Manifesto and photocopies of some letters from the 1930s, written by G.G. Görlich, Bolzano, 1930; Leon Friend, Brooklyn, 1932; Róbert Berény, 1936; László Moholy-Nagy, Chicago, 1939, etc. Correspondence and documents concerning his activities in the field of advertisement are also included in this collection, e.g. correspondence with the Modiano cigar company from 1934. Some photographs showing his works from the 1920s, as well as miscellaneous manuscripts and lectures are also included. Documents from after the Second World War include letters written by various artists to Bortnyik who was then the editor of Szabad Művészet (e.g. Ferenc Medgyessy, János Mattis Teutsch, Róbert Berény, Alfréd Forbát, László Péri, István Szőnyi, Victor Vasarely).
