Description
Nóra Pamer (1924–2011) majored in Archaeology and Art History at Eötvös Loránd University, receiving her diplomas in 1952. From 1960, she worked as an archaeologist at the Science Department of the National Monument Inspectorate, heading the archaeological research of medieval heritage buildings (churches, monasteries) preceding their restoration. She also participated in the excavation of numerous castles in the 1960s – her most important work as an archaeologist was arguably the excavation of the castle of Kisnána (Heves county), which she worked on for several years. In 1970, she parted ways with the National Monument Inspectorate, and became an editor of architecture-related publications at Műszaki Publishing House. Her main interest as a researcher was modern architecture, such as Belgian Art Nouveau, or the architecture of Hungary between the two World Wars. She published several books on these topics. Was also one of the editors of the journal Műemlékvédelem (Architectural Heritage Preservation) between 1973–1995.
The fonds is mostly comprised of excavation documentations, including excavation logs and reports, drawings, photos and notes.
