Description
The predecessor of the Association of Art Enthusiasts, called Budapest Circle of Art Collectors and Aficionados, was formed in 1973. They organize exhibitions, hold informative and art-related lectures, and publish books and other material. Their goals are to promote culture, to popularise all branches of art, to represent the interests of collectors of fine art, to support artistic creative communities, to represent the interests of art enthusiasts, to deepen the cultural knowledge of its members, and to keep in touch with similar organisations. Since September 1991, they have been publishing their own bi-monthly journal, Művészet és Barátai (Art and Its Friends).The chairs of the association: 1973–1981 Barna Búza, 1981–1983 Gábor Pogány Ö., 1983–1985 Gyula Xantus, 1985–1999 Mihály Gergely, 1999– Tibor Geröly.
