  • Description
    Art historian Zsolt Ráth (1953–2001) was a significant researcher of Hungarian avant-garde. Majored in History, Russian and Art history at the Faculty of Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University between 1971–1977, receiving a doctoral degree in art history in 1982. The title of his dissertation was Fejezetek a kubizmus magyarországi történetéhez (Chapters from the history of Cubism in Hungary). Associate of the Research Group for Art History at HAS between 1977–1990, being the head of the Archive of Hungarian Artists (the so-called “Lexicon Collection”) of the research group. Associate of the Municipal Gallery of the Budapest History Museum between 1989–1991, after which he worked in private galleries.
    The fonds contains Zsolt Ráth’s hand-written notes, photographic material, work contracts and commissions.
