  • Description
Gábor Tóth (1950–) is a performance artist, as well as a sound and visual poet. Between 1968–1971, he attended the Faculty of Law at Eötvös Loránd University. His master was Károly Tamkó Sirató. A co-founder of alternative art publishing house „Experimental Art Publisher”, he started publishing LAZA LAPOK művészeti-közérzeti lap (EASY PAGES art and mood journal) in the early 1990s. Co-created the “tales co.” free improvisation formation with Zsolt Sőrés and Zsolt Kovács. He has been active in many different genres and branches of art since 1968; although he is primarily a poet, his creative activities are inseparable from visual art, printing, publishing, fine art, sound poetry and multimedia arts. He has created performances, videos and experimental films. His works in fine art are most closely related to mail art and Fluxus. An avid visitor and participant of the exhibitions in the chapel of Balatonboglár. In the 1980s, he created the so-called “Tóth cards” – art-related slogans, badges, word bubbles (taken out of the context of a comic book) and self-adhesive stickers. The majority of the fonds contains Tóth’s works – assemblages, book objects, unique books, mail art, photos, collages, stickers, slogans, objects, computer graphics, prints, collage texts, drawings, montages, calligrams, xerox, postage stamps, badges, photo diptychs, manipulated photos, photo collages, prepared prints, graphics, paintings, installations, stamps and welded artworks.
